Belgreen gets pair of wins in tournament play Saturday
The Belgreen Bulldogs posted 14 hits and blanked the Winston County Yellow Jackets 10-0 Saturday.
The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first, five in the second and three in the third for the dominating victory.
Belgreen got on the board first on a single by Camie Terrell scoring Sydney Borden, then Noelle Willingham scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
In the second inning, Gracie Dempsey scored on a single by Jaelyn Johnson to extend Belgreen’s lead to 3-0. Bailey Wood scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. Kaycee Wilson doubled in Johnson to give Belgreen a 5-0 lead, and Terrell doubled on the next at-bat to score Willingham and give Belgreen a 6-0 lead. Terrell came around to score on a fielder’s choice to extend the lead to 7-0.
Wilson and Terrell had three hits and two RBIs each for Belgreen. Emma Dempsey went two-for-three with three RBIs. Terrell and Borden scored two runs each.
Emma Dempsey got the win for the Bulldogs.
Belgreen 7, Addison 1
The BHS girls scored all the runs they needed in the third inning to get a 7-1 win over the Addison Bulldogs.
The BHS Bulldogs got things started on a two-RBI triple by Katie Dempsey in the top of the third inning, scoring Camie Terrell and Kaycee Wilson. Bailey Wood singled in Katie Dempsey to give Belgreen a 3-0 lead.
Sydney Borden had a two-RBI single, scoring Wood and Jaelyn Johnson, to extend the Bulldogs lead to 5-0. Belgreen rounded out scoring on a two-RBI single by Terrell, scoring Kaylee Chandler and Nolle Willingham.
Terrell went three-for-three with two RBIs and scored a run. Borden and Katie Dempsey also had a two-RBI game.
Borden got the win for Belgreen.
Pleasant Valley 4, Belgreen 0
Belgreen fell behind early against Pleasant Valley and couldn’t come back, losing 4-0.
Pleasant Valley took an early lead on double.
Camie Terrell doubled in the first inning for the Bulldogs, but they couldn’t capitalize.
Emma Dempsey took the loss for Belgreen, allowing five hits and four runs over three innings and striking out five.
Terrell, Kaycee Wilson and Katie Dempsey each managed one hit to lead Belgreen at the plate.
