RCS holds November meeting
The November Russellville City Schools Board of Education meeting was brief and relatively uneventful, but several personnel decisions were made.
Mike Powell, RHS teacher, and Danny Vincent, RES custodian, were approved for retirement. Justin Vallejo, RMS teacher, was approved for resignation. Emily Vess, temporary teacher at RMS, was approved for resignation.
Ashley Almon, RES teacher, and Kris Lloyd, WES teacher, were approved for leaves of absence. Almon’s will be effective Jan. 22, 2019, through May 24, 2019. Lloyd’s is effective Nov. 5 though Dec. 19, 2018.
Matthew Duncan and Corey Trapp were approved to be a pro-consult for the junior varsity and middle school baseball teams. The maximum payment for athletic consultant at the JV level shall not exceed $600, incurred expenses notwithstanding, to be paid by the Baseball Booster Club. They can also be paid from 50 percent of the camp proceeds if he works the winter and summer camps.
Sharmaine Fikes was approved to be transfered from school bookkeeper at RES to aide at RES, effective Jan. 1, 2019. Tony Buckhalter was approved to be transferred from PE strength and conditioning at RHS to ISS at RHS effective Nov. 1.
Tynes Channell was approved to be a custodian at RES effective Dec. 3. Caroline Hargett was approved to be a math teacher at RMS effective Jan. 3, 2019. Madeline Page was approved to be a temporary sixth-grade math teacher to fill a leave of absence from Jan. 3 through Feb. 15, 2019.
Other actions taken at the meeting included:
- Approving Pilgrim’s to host Storytime with Santa in the WES cafeteria Dec. 15.
- Approving the 2018-19 athletic schedule for basketball as presented in the agenda, including any changes that could occur because of cancellations, rainouts, etc. Superintendent Heath Grimes recommend allowing coaches and sponsors to take the team and cheerleaders to away games. Students will travel to the away games by bus or approved vehicle.
- Approving the RHS Marching Hundred to participate in the Fiesta Flambeau Night parade in San Antonio, Texas, April 25-28, 2019.
