Holly Day returns for fifth year

Santa Claus will be making appearances all over Franklin County this year, and one of the most notable occasions will be at the fifth annual Holly Day celebration.

Dec. 1 the A.W. Todd Center will be full of Christmas games and cookies and a special appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes a slice of pizza, a drink, cookie decorating, games, entertainment and a visit and picture with Santa.

“The Chamber enjoys planning and hosting Holly Day because it gives children a local opportunity to visit with Santa.  It also gives children a way to showcase their artwork with the Christmas card coloring contest along with decorating cookies and playing games,” Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Director Cassie Medley said.

Games this year will include a Christmas Tree Toss, bowling, a kissing booth, Santa and Frosty Cornhole and a special game presented by The Cottage Assisted Living. On the entertainment lineup is Addie’s Flip Tip & Tap, the Love 2 Sing Studio and the RHS A Capella Ensemble.

“My favorite is seeing children’s eyes light up when they see Santa,” Medley said. “The Franklin County Junior Leaders serve at Holly Day, and they get just as excited about seeing Santa as the kiddos.”

This year’s sponsors for Holly Day are Bank Independent, City of Russellville, CB&S Bank, Community Spirit Bank, Cotton Flat Cruisers, Country Cottage, First Metro Bank, Franklin County Arts & Humanities Council, Franklin County Commission, Franklin County Times, Franklin Electric, Gault Signs, Morgan Chiropractic, Papa John’s, Redmont Pharmacy, Russellville Civitan, Russellville Water & Sewer Board, Strickland & Barksdale and Valley State Bank.
