Vote yes on Franklin County Amendment One
Citizens of Franklin County:
Nov. 6, I ask that you vote YES on Franklin County Amendment One.
This is an extension of the one-cent sales tax for our school system. This is not a new tax.
I can’t say emphatically enough how important the one-cent sales tax is to the Franklin County School System. We have been receiving revenue from this tax since 2010. It has been the life-line for the Franklin County School System during very difficult economic times.
I want to thank you for past support and ask that you extend this one-cent sales tax.
It is no secret that student enrollment has increased tremendously in Franklin County over the past three years. We are experiencing overcrowded classrooms and continued growth at all of our schools. We are in desperate need of new facilities and facility upgrades at many of our campuses.
The only viable way for this to be alleviated is to have a guaranteed revenue stream that will allow us to secure financing to handle these capital projects.
By having the one-cent sales tax for a guaranteed 30-year period, we will be able to address the need for future capital projects.
I want to assure the people of Franklin County that I have been and will continue to be a good steward of their tax dollars. I ask for the support of the citizens of Franklin County in this endeavor as we continue to make the Franklin County School System the best it can be for our children.
Vote yes Nov. 6 on Franklin County Amendment One.
