RHS volleyball competes in Tourney of Champs

The Russellville High School volleyball team is approaching the finishing stretch of the 2018 regular season.

Head coach Whitney Glover’s group of girls recently took part in the Tournament of Champions, and the Lady Golden Tigers were swept 2-0 in matches against Bayside Academy, Muscle Shoals and West Morgan.

The Lady Golden Tigers followed that up with a tri-match at Hatton High School.

RHS took on Colbert County in one match and took a 2-0 victory over the Indians by game scores of 25-15 and 25-11. Krista Sikes had four digs, two aces and four assists for Russellville. Kaitleen Arzola had four kills, two blocks, three digs and six aces, while Briley Gillespie had four aces and two kills.

Treyvia Pruitt had four kills, and Lexie Glass helped out with four kills and two blocks. Briana Ramirez added 19 digs and two aces, while Alivia Clemmons had seven digs and three kills.

Against Hatton, RHS won the middle game of the match but fell to the Hornets by a 1-2 count. Game scores were 11-25, 25-22 and 12-15.

Arzola had six kills, three blocks and 13 digs for Russellville. Gillespie added one kill, one ace, two blocks and five digs. Pruitt had a kill and block, along with two digs, while Glass had four kills and four blocks. Sikes helped out with eight assists, while Clemmons had 12 digs and one ace, and Ramirez had 13 digs.
