RHS Golden Tigers remain unbeaten

Almost halfway through the 2018 football season, the Russellville Golden Tigers are right where they want to be: undefeated and atop the region standings.
Russellville (4-0, 3-0) took the lead for the first time in Friday night’s game on homecoming at West Point with a minute to go in the opening half and never looked back in a 53-20 win over the Warriors.
At one point in the second quarter, the Golden Tigers found themselves trailing by 13 points, but then the defense shut out West Point the rest of the way. The senior trio of playmakers on offense for RHS continued to shine, as Zaye Boyd rushed for three touchdowns, Devin Buckhalter score twice on pass receptions and once on a run and Lucas McNutt passed for two TDs and ran for another score.
“A lot of metal mistakes in the first half kind of kept them in the game,” said Russellville head coach John Ritter said. “Defensively, we didn’t play very well and gave up 20 points. To our guys’ credit, they started playing a lot harder and started making tackles and doing what we’re supposed to do.”
The Russellville coach also mentioned big plays by Boyd and Buckhalter, along with catches by Cole Barnett, that made a difference offensively near the end of the first half and set the tone for the rest of the game.
