Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Labor Day 2018 was a real special day for me. A lot of businesses were open, and a lot of special sales were being held, but for me it was a day to visit one of my best friends.

I paid a visit to Columbia, Tenn., and had a nice visit with one of my best buddies, Mr. George Carter. George will be 90 years old his next birthday.

I felt it was more important to pay a visit than to open the business for a big sale. Friends mean so much to us, and we should never neglect an opportunity to visit and share a lot of memories from days gone by. We did just that, and believe me it was worth the few hours that I had the opportunity to visit and just remember the many years that we have known each other.

George lost his wife several years ago, but he has made it OK. His secret is just to stay busy and keep his mind focused on the days that lie ahead.

George told me, “Just have to keep on making the best of every day and try to do what the Good Lord has for you to accomplish.”

My visit was well worth the time, and I left Columbia, Tenn., a little sad but happy to a certain extent. It is so important to keep the good friends we have and try to make new ones every day.

Our families are so important, but friends are so important as well. I know it is so important to have big days in business, but people are important as well, especially our friends.

So many of my friends are the readers of Homefolks U.S.A., and the kind remarks you continue to offer really mean a lot. I have so many untold stories to share in the weeks ahead. Thanks to everyone who offers encouragement.

Maybe you have a story you would like for me to share. If that be the case, please let me know, and I would be happy to include your story sometime in the near future. I like to keep our stories about people and events we all can relate to. I feel like our readers are part of the family.

As this summer begins to disappear, let’s not forget the good times this season has brought to each one of us.

Our next holiday will be Thanksgiving, and happy times with family and friends will certainly be had again.

Keep reading our stories, and always remember that it’s each of you that make for happy reading each week in Homefolks U.S.A.

Til next time,

Your friend,

Bobby
