Russellville hosts adult prom

Prom is one of the biggest events, aside from graduation, that students get to experience during their high school careers, but what about the adults whose high school years are behind them? Franklin County local Tammy West has organized an event for adults who want to dress up in formal wear and relive – or for the first time experience – the magic of prom.

A Night to Remember will take place at the A.W. Todd Centre Nov. 10 from 7-11 p.m. It is an all-inclusive event open to anyone who wants to attend, even those who are not from Franklin County.

“I want it to be an event where people can come and have fun without worrying about drama or fighting – just good, wholesome fun,” West said.

She has three DJs lined up who volunteered to provide a variety of musical entertainment for the event. “They are some of the best DJs I have worked with,” West said.

The color scheme will be purple, black, white and bling. “I want it to be extravagant. I want it to be beautiful,” West said.

She said she is also planning on having a red carpet for guests to walk down and have their picture taken. A friend of West’s from Texas will provide photography for the event.

“Some people never got the chance to go to prom. I want everybody to have the full experience,” West said.

West, who owns an event company, will be handling food and decorations. She said the menu will include finger foods like sliders and pigs in a blanket – and of course there will be dessert.

“I love to cook and entertain and see people smile and have a good time,” she said.

Tickets are $30 for a single person or $50 for a couple. Tickets can be purchased from West or members of her committee who are helping her plan and organize the adult prom. They will be selling a maximum of 300 tickets because of the capacity of the building, and tickets can be purchased up until the day of the prom or until they run out.

West said each ticket will have a number that will go toward the door prizes that will be given out.

To purchase a ticket, contact West at 256-668-7649.

Attendees will also elect a prom court during the night.
