Franklin County T.R.A.C.K.S. program begins

The 2018-19 Franklin County T.R.A.C.K.S. program started Aug. 7 at all six of the county schools: East Franklin, Belgreen, Phil Campbell, Red Bay, Tharptown and Vina.

“T.R.A.C.K.S. is a wonderful program. If parents need after school assistance, T.R.A.C.K.S. is the thing to do,” Franklin County Extension Director Katernia Cole-Coffey said.

Franklin County Extension is working in collaboration with the program and providing weekly activities involving STEM, nutrition and parenting activities.

Each child participant will complete academic work in the program as well as a wide range of activities such as STEAM activities, recreation and even service projects.

“It’s a way to keep children safe and engaged and promotes educational enrichment,” said program coordinator Susan Hargett.

Specialty workshops will provide opportunities for students to focus on certain topics like writing, art, music and science.

Each day will begin with a snack and celebrations for good behavior and good grades.

T.R.A.C.K.S. runs from 3-5:30 p.m. each day. The price for the first child is $25 per week, and each additional child is $20 per week.

Interested parents can call their child’s school to receive the information to get started. For questions call 256-331-0005.
