Franklin County 4-H encourages innovation by providing students with the tools to create their own projects.
Belgreen and Tharptown students design and create cars and spinners.
Balloon car races challenge students through trial and error as they determine just how to make their creations move.
June 19 Belgreen, Tharptown, Phil Campbell and East Franklin students met at the A.W. Todd Centre for 4-H Innovators: 4Hi Goes Fast. Different stations were set up for the students to design cars and produce their creations.
This was the third meeting of the program so far. June 12 students met for Get Unplugged and Grow, an introduction to coding through Unplugged games and activities. The students used Unplugged coding to pot a small plant.
June 15 was Junk Drawer Robotics. Students were challenged to create a robot with the “junk” they were given.
June 26 the students were given the chance to explore the rocketry field. June 29-30 will focus on water safety and kayaking. July 16-20 is STEM Challenges Week, which will contain rocketry, robotics, computer programming and a drone obstacle course.
