DYW holds final interest meeting
Girls in Franklin County entering the 10th, 11th and 12th grades have one more opportunity to attend an information and registration meeting for Distinguished Young Women.
A final meeting will be held June 7 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at First Metro Bank in Muscle Shoals.
According to Beth Hammock, girls are not required to bring anything to the meeting.
The preferred registration deadline for DYW is June 23.
“Once registered, they will need to fill out some forms online as well as submit a headshot photo for the program book,” Hammock said.
Participants will then begin practices to prepare for the Aug. 4 program, in which they will compete for cash scholarships and other scholarships to colleges and universities. Each county winner will go on to represent her county statewide in Montgomery in January 2019.
Those entering the 10th and 11th grades will have the opportunity to be “DYW Little Sisters.”
The DYW program will be held Aug. 4 at the Norton Auditorium on the University of North Alabama’s campus.
