Mary Jane Paxson Norris

Mary Jane Paxson Norris, born Jan. 4, 1941, passed away May 29.

The family will gather to receive friends June 2 from 9-11 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home, Huntsville, with Brothers Jeff Archer and Lowell Sallee officiating. A graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at KP Cemetery in Russellville with Brother Jackie Richardson officiating.

Pallbearers will be some of the elders and deacons from the Jordan Park church of Christ.

Born Jan. 4, 1941, in St. Louis, MO, Mary Jane graduated from Florida College, where she met her husband Benjie. They were happily married for over 40 years. Mary Jane was a modern day “Dorcas” who over the course of her entire life blessed countless people with hundreds of crocheted dresses, blankets, quilts and other handmade crafts.

She was a faithful and devoted servant of God, worshiping with the Jordan Park church of Christ.

Her parents, Eugene and Mildred Paxson; her husband, Benjie Norris; her sister, Pamela Jenkins; and her brother-in-law, Bert Lindsey, preceded Mary Jane in death.

Mary Jane is survived by her daughters, Becky Romine (Brent), Julie May (Steve) and Amy Norris; sister Carol Lindsey; mother-in-law Leila Norris; sister-in-law Bunny Richardson (Jackie); brothers-in-law Tim Norris (Beverly) and Lanny Norris (Donna); grandchildren, Brock Romine and his fiancée Elizabeth Hammontree, Baylee Howard (Zack), Beth Romine and Jessica, Amanda, Becca and Ben May; and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, you can donate to a Florida College scholarship fund for needy and deserving students in memory of Mary Jane Norris at www.floridacollege.edu/giving or via mail at Florida College, 119 N. Glen Arven Avenue, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.  Just note that it is for the “Norris Endowed Scholarship.”
