FCCT student wins FBLA award

Dillon Borden is the second-place winner in the computer applications competition at the FBLA State Conference.
At the awards ceremony, student Dillon Borden received the second-place award in computer applications.
In competition, “I was nervous at first, but after a while the nerves went away,” Borden said. His challenge was to design a spreadsheet, create a database, make a mail merge and construct a PowerPoint, among other things. The objective test, a multiple-choice 100 question test, was one hour long, while the project test, in which Borden used of all the Microsoft Word applications, was two hours long.
Borden will now go on to the National Conference in Baltimore, Md., June 28 through July 1.
“I am very excited. Baltimore sounds like a wonderful place to visit, and I feel it is going to be a lot of fun. I am hoping to be able to place in the national competition as well,” he said.
Borden said that he hopes to pursue a career in computers/technology because he feels he excels in those disciplines.
