Tharptown Elementary hosts third annual color run

Tharptown Elementary School will host the third annual Color Me Fun Run May 11 at 1 p.m. at the high school football stadium.
The Color Run was started by Susie Tverberg, a teacher at Tharptown Elementary. It has since grown from 20 sponsors to 50 and 400 participants to close to 600.
“Our administration, school and community has been so supportive of this project, which has allowed it to grow,” said Tverberg. “We wanted to encourage our students, staff and community to have a fun, memorable time together during this event. It has been a blessing to see it grow the way it has.”
The Color Me Fun Run will take place on a one-mile course beginning at the Tharptown High School football field. Throughout the course, participants will experience four color splash zones, where they will be doused in color. There will also be a final color explosion on the football field at the end of the event.
Registration fee is $5 for TES/THS students and faculty members and $10 for the general public. This fee includes a Color Me Fun Run T-shirt, small pack of colored powder and an arm band.

This year’s T-shirt was designed by TES sixth-grader Angel Myers.
“We wanted this year’s shirts to have a unique design,” said Tverberg. “We had 65 entries, and it was a tough decision for our committee. We appreciate Angel’s hard work and thoughtfulness.”
