FCSO recovers sex offender

April 19 the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office’s search for Barry Lane, 27, ended with Lane’s arrest.

FCSO had released a statement April 16 alerting the public of a search for Lane, who was on the Most Wanted list for a sex offender registration law violation and probation violation.

According to the county’s registry, Lane was convicted in March 2014 of sodomy, second degree. The victim was a 7-year-old boy.

“Somebody saw in the paper that we were looking for him and called us,” Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.

FCSO received the information Thursday from a citizen who had seen Lane and the vehicle he was driving. Deputies followed the lead, spotted the vehicle that was described and performed a traffic stop that ended with Lane’s arrest, according to Oliver.

Lane, who was not keeping up with his mandatory check-ins, is still in custody and awaiting his time to go before a judge.
