Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Reunions have a way of bringing back so many memories. A Fourth of July Picnic, a Thanksgiving dinner, a Christmas get together or a class reunion can certainly bring back a lot of memories for so many folks.

This past Saturday, the Phil Campbell Class of 1960 had our 58th Class Reunion at the A.W. Todd Center here in Russellville. Since 1960 our class has had several reunions, and each one has been well attended by people who finished in the year 1960.

This year was no exception. So many of our classmates attended. Some traveled more than 700 miles from all over the state just to be here, and many others from out of state came to be here. We had so many to show up and enjoy the friendship of those we have known for so many years.

I experienced a real sense of happiness, and some sadness as well, as we enjoyed our time together. I was happy to visit and see great friends from long ago and sad to think about some of my dear friends who departed this world since our last reunion.

A person who I kept thinking about during the reunion way my good friend Rondle Trapp. Rondle passed away Dec. 8, 2015. He was one of my best friends ever. We worked together for many years in the furniture business. We would quail hunt all day and camp out and deer hunt for many long days.

I never killed a deer, and Rondle would always remind me about how little I know about deer hunting – and he was always right.

I have shared many meals at his parents’ home after a long day of hunting and was always treated like one of the family.

I have so many wonderful memories of Rondle and his family, and to know he was absent from the reunion made me a little sad, but the great memories I have will always bring joy and happiness to my life.

Everyone had a wonderful time for several hours, and we expect to have another one three years down the road.

Coy Morgan made a great remark, saying, “We will always continue to have a reunion, even if I have to celebrate it by myself.” God bless our class.

Til next time,

Your friend,

Bobby

Friends are like the stars. We don’t always see them, but we know they are always there.
