Vina pitcher no-hits THS, leading to area sweep

Jackson Landers didn’t allow a hit as the Vina Red Devils shut out the Tharptown Wildcats 14-0 last week in an area matchup.

Vina scored five runs in the first, four in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth, taking the easy win.

Landers also led the Red Devils at the plate, going two-for-four with four RBIs. Blake Hardin went two-for-three with an RBI and two runs scored.

Austin Harper and Haze Weatherford scored three runs. Braden Moomaw scored two runs.

Austin Childers had a four-RBI game. Issac Harper had two RBIs.

Vina 10, Tharptown 7

The Tharptown Wildcats held an early, short-lived, one-run lead before the Vina Red Devils took control of the game, going on to win the area matchup 10-7.

Tharptown got on the board first when Britton Kennamore scored on a fielder’s choice.

Vina scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead. Childers doubled to left field scoring Austin Harper to tie the game.

The Red Devils took the lead on a bases-loaded walk scoring Moomaw. Malik Fletcher later scored on a passed ball.

Vina extended the lead to 4-1 when Moomaw scored on an error.

Hunter White cut Vina’s lead to 4-2 scoring on sacrifice fly.

Vina pulled away in the bottom of the fourth scoring five runs to give the Red Devils a 9-2 lead.

Tharptown scored four runs in the top of the fourth to cut the Vina lead to 9-6.

Moomaw scored three times for Vina. Childers had two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Issac Harper also had two RBIs.

Grayson Studdard led the way for Tharptown, going three-for-four with four RBIs and scored a run. White scored three times, and Kennamore scored twice for the Wildcats.
