Wildcats open softball season in dramatic fashion

By Bart Moss / For the FCT

You can’t start a softball season much better than the Tharptown Wildcats did Friday night.

Sophomore Oliva Ergle threw a no-hitter, and junior Catie Dawson hit a grand slam home run, to lead the Wildcats past the Addison Bulldogs 6-0.

Ergle pitched a gem, striking out ten Bulldog batters.

Ameliah Dawson got things started for the Wildcats in the first inning with a two-RBI single scoring Cameron Taylor and Brooke Daily.

Catie Dawson hit her grand slam in the fifth inning, scoring Cara Ergle, Ameliah Dawson and Olivia Ergle, all of who reached on singles.

Ameliah Dawson went 3-for-3 in the game with two RBIs. Catie Dawson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Cara Ergle went 2-for-3.
