Police arrest three in assault case

Valentine’s Day, a day that is supposed to be filled with love and happiness, was instead marked by assault for one woman in Franklin County. According to Sgt. Jordan Seahorn at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, around midnight Feb. 14, a woman was sexually assaulted and beaten before managing to escape and find help.

“As soon as the department was notified, we began an investigation,” Seahorn said.

The victim, who was reportedly in a dating relationship with the primary suspect, had been sexually assaulted, severely beaten and shot at by a firearm. When she managed to escape, she notified a family member, who then called the sheriff’s department.

Seahorn said FCSO investigators launched an investigation with the help of the U.S. Marshals, Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, Franklin County Drug Task Force and the Russellville Police Department. By Feb. 15 they had three suspects in custody.

“We served the search warrant and during the search found evidence related to the crime,” Seahorn said.

Jeffery Campbell, 52, Phil Campbell, was arrested and charged with unlawful imprisonment first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm into an occupied building, sodomy first degree and domestic violence strangulation.

His brother Eric Glen Campbell, 47, Phil Campbell, was arrested and charged with domestic violence third degree and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Eric’s girlfriend Brianna Gibbs, 31, Tanner, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

The victim is currently receiving treatment, according to Seahorn, and the suspects are being held in the Franklin County Jail.
