Luncheon helps Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of the Shoals, which provides services to Franklin County, will host the 15th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon March 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance from auxiliary members, from the Salvation Army Headquarters at 1601 Huntsville Road and at Trinity Ceramic Supply in Florence Industrial Park. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Cost includes four cups of soup from more than 60 participating restaurants to pair with homemade bread and water, along with a handmade ceramic bowl or cross. The “empty bowl” attendees take home serves as a reminder that someone’s bowl is always empty.
A Heart and Hands Gourmet Bake Sale lets attendees complete their meals with a homemade dessert. Thrift store models will also be raising money for hunger as they model outfits found at the Salvation Army Thrift Stores. There will also be a silent auction with hundreds of items from local merchants and individuals.
