Crash kills one

A one-vehicle crash at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14 has claimed the life of a Phil Campbell man, according to Alabama state troopers.

Carl Stephen Mitchell II, 24, was killed when the 2003 Ford Mustang he was driving ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Highway 243 in Franklin County, 12 miles south of Russellville, according to the report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
