County girls teams wrap up regular season

Phil Campbell 63, Phillips 57

In the third meeting of the two Top 10 teams, the fourth-ranked team in 2A, the Phil Campbell Bobcats, finally got the better of the second-ranked team in 1A, the Phillips Bears, 63-57.

Phil Campbell and Phillips played to a 13-13 deadlock in the first quarter before the Bobcats took a 26-24 halftime lead. Phil Campbell extended their lead to 43-38 in the third quarter and outpaced the Bears 20-19 in the fourth quarter to hold onto the win.

The Bobcats had four players in double figures, led by Dakota Elliott, who scored 18 points. Abby Davis followed with 14 points. Kallie Allen added 12 points and Caitlyn Mills 11 points. Darby Elliott contributed six points to the win, while Kaci Harris sank two points.

Phil Campbell 56, Winston County 33

The Phil Campbell Bobcats had no problems taking down class 3A Winston County on Senior Night last week, 56-33. It was the final regular season game of the year for the Bobcats and improved their record to 21-5.

Allen led the Bobcats with 20 points. Darby Elliott followed with 12 points. Davis and Dakota Elliott finished the game with nine points each. Kaci Harris and Caitlyn Mills finished with two points each.

Belgreen 49, Red Bay 41

Belgreen shut out the Red Bay Tigers in the first quarter on the way to a 49-41 win last week.

The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 9-0 in the first quarter and held on to a 24-16 halftime lead. Both teams score 25 points in the second half.

Emma Dempsey led Belgreen with 13 points. Jasmine Martin added 10 points. Gabbie Moore finished the game with nine points, Ansley Tate with six points, Gracie Dempsey four points, Autumn Bragwell three points, Camie Terrell three points and Katie Dempsey one point.

Reagan Kuykendall led Red Bay with 11 points. Savannah Shaw added eight points, Macy Faulkner seven points, Carlie Lindley six points, Mallori Miller four points, Destiny McCollister two points, Brooke Shewbart two points and Lila Blackburn one point.

Belgreen 77, Fayette County 15

The Belgreen Bulldogs thoroughly dominated class 4A Fayette County Tigers last week, 77-15.

Belgreen raced out to a 14-4 first quarter lead and extended their lead to 35-6 at halftime. The Bulldogs shutout the Tigers 25-0 in the fourth quarter in route to the blowout win.

Ten Bulldog players got in on the scoring action. Bragwell and Moore led Belgreen with 19 points and 17 points respectively. Terrell added 10 points. Katie Dempsey finished the game with eight points, Emma Dempsey six points, Gracie Dempsey five points, Martin ten points, Tate four points, Emma Willingham two points and Megan Smith one point.

Belgreen 67, Sheffield 21

The Belgreen Bulldogs scored 44 points in the second and third quarter as they raced to a 67-21 blowout win over class 3A Sheffield last week.

Tate led Belgreen with 13 points. JMartin added 10 points. Bragwell and Moore finished the game with nine points each. Emma Dempsey pitched in eight points, Katie Dempsey five points and Terrell four points. Willingham, Gracie Dempsey and Bailey Oliver ended the game with three points each.

Tharptown 51, Cherokee 36

Brooke Daily led Tharptown to a win over the Cherokee Indians last week. Daily scored 17 points to help her team get the win.

Ameliah Dawson scored nine points. Catie Dawson and Adrianna Borden added eight points each. Aly Vandiver finished the game with four points, Shaylee Wieting three points and Linda Bahena two points.

Vina 68, Cherokee 45

Abby Hester sank 23 points to help give Vina a 68-45 win over the Cherokee Indians last week. The win gave the Red Devils a 22-7 record on the year.

Vina led Cherokee 12-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Red Devils extended their lead to 33-18 at halftime. Vina added to their lead in the third quarter, running past Cherokee 48-24.

Rayleigh Guinn added 16 points and Kaitlyn King 12 points in the win. Sarah Johnson finished with five points and Kaley Vandiver four points.

Phillips 67, Vina 47

The second-ranked Phillips Bears jumped out to a quick 27-9 lead in the first quarter and coasted to an easy 67-47 win over the Vina Red Devils last week.

Kaitlyn King led Vina with 14 points. Abby Hester went eight for eight from the free throw line and scored 13 points. Emma Humphres added eight points and Sarah Johnson two points.

Vina 86, Brilliant 61

Vina and Brilliant were deadlocked in a scoring battle before the Red Devils shut down the Tigers in route to an 86-61 win on Senior Night.

Vina led Brilliant by just two points, 25-23, at the end of the first quarter. The Red Devils exploded past the Tigers to 52-34 by halftime.

Hester led Vina with 34 points. Johnson added 12 points, Guinn 11 points and King 10 points. Sarah Scott finished the game with seven points and Vandiver had six points.

Vina 90, Hubbertville 36

The Vina Red Devils had no trouble blowing out the Hubbertville Lions 90-36 last week.

Vina led 30-7 at the end of the first quarter and 59-19 at halftime.

King led Vina with 36 points, eclipsing the 1000 career point mark for her career. Abby Hester added 12 points.
