Phil Campbell wins three trophies in junior high county tournament
The Phil Campbell Bobcats dominated the Junior High Franklin County Tournament, winning three of the four divisions.
The Bobcats won the B-Junior Girls division, A-Junior Girls Division and A-Junior Boys division. The Red Bay Tigers walked away with the B-Junior Boys division title.
B-Junior Girls Final: Phil Campbell 39, Tharptown 25
The Phil Campbell Bobcats rolled past the Tharptown Wildcats in the B-Junior Girls finals, 39-25.
Phil Campbell led Tharptown 10-3 at the end of the first quarter and 27-8 at halftime en route to the championship.
Madison Branch led Phil Campbell with 17 points. Autumn Montgomery led Tharptown with 11 points.
B-Junior Boys Final: Red Bay 61, Phil Campbell 31
After a tight first quarter, the B-Junior Boys final turned into a Red Bay route as the Tigers won 61-31.
Red Bay led Phil Campbell by just two points at the end of the first quarter, 9-7. From there, it was all Red Bay. The Tigers outscored the Bobcats 19-7 in the second quarter to take a 28-14 halftime lead. Red Bay outpaced Phil Campbell 13-9 in the third quarter to extend that lead to 41-23.
Colby Jackson led Red Bay with 16 points. Andrew Ray followed with 10 points.
Cam Habada led the Bobcats with 11 points.
A-Junior Girls Final: Phil Campbell 35, Tharptown 27
The Phil Campbell Bobcats held off a second comeback by the Tharptown Wildcats to capture the A-Junior Girls Franklin County championship 35-27.
Phil Campbell jumped out to a 13-2 first quarter lead and led 23-6 at halftime. The Bobcats still held a sizeable lead at the end of the third quarter 32-14 before the Wildcats went on a 13-3 run in the fourth quarter to cut into the lead.
Caymen Quinn led the Bobcats with 11 points. Gracie Montgomery led Tharptown with 13 points.
A-Junior Boys Final: Phil Campbell 41, Tharptown 23A big third quarter lifted the Phil Campbell Bobcats past the Tharptown Wildcats in the A-Junior Boys championship game 41-23.
Phil Campbell led Tharptown 11-5 at the end of the first quarter and 17-11 in at halftime. The Bobcats pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Tharptown 14-4 to take a commanding 31-15 lead in the final period of play.
Mason Swinney and Blaine Goodson led Phil Campbell with 13 points and 10 points respectively.
Colton Simmons led Tharptown with 10 points.

B-Junior Boys: Phil Campbell 30, Tharptown 26
The Phil Campbell Bobcats defeated the Tharptown Wildcats 30-26 to advance to the finals to face the Red Bay Tigers on Saturday.
Phil Campbell was led by Cam Habada with 11 points. Briley Kerby and Luis Valdez led the Wildcats with 11 points each.
B-Junior Girls: Phil Campbell 35, Red Bay 30
The Phil Campbell Bobcats defeated the Red Bay Tigers 35-30 to head to the finals to take on the Tharptown Wildcats.
Phil Campbell was led by Jade Roberson with 14 points. Emma Nethery led the Tigers with 14 points.
A-Junior Girls: Phil Campbell 40, Red Bay 20
The Phil Campbell Bobcats rolled past the Red Bay Tigers to make it to the finals of the tournament, winning 40-20.
McKensi Scott led the Bobcats with 11 points. Emma McCollister led Red Bay with six points.
A-Junior Girls: Tharptown 26, East Franklin 19
The Tharptown Wildcats held off the East Franklin Rebels in the semifinals of the Franklin County Tournament 26-19. The Wildcats’ win pitted them against the Phil Campbell Bobcats in the finals.
Taylor Cameron led the Wildcats with 11 points. East Franklin was led by Addie C with eight points.
