Fundraiser benefits One Place of the Shoals

For anyone in search of live music that benefits a good cause, there will be a Grand Ole Opry Impersonation Show Jan. 20 at the Florence/Lauderdale Coliseum. It starts at 7 p.m., and all of the proceeds go to fund the services provided by One Place of the Shoals.

One Place of the Shoals is a family justice center that helps those who have suffered domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual assault and child or elder abuse. All of their services are free of charge to people in need in the counties One Place serves – including Franklin.

“We want Franklin County readers to know that we are only a phone call away, and they can reach out to us,” executive director Elizabeth Moore said.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. One Place provides free counseling; advocates who will talk to anyone about their situation; and information that helps people know their options.

“Everything is confidential,” Moore said. “We want people to know what their options are and help them make the right decision for themselves, whether it’s taking legal action or not.”

To help fund these services, One Place hosts fundraisers like the Impersonation Show, which will feature The Cadillacs. This is the second annual Grand Ole Opry Impersonation Show; Moore said the first one was a great event.

“It was so fun. They are so talented and great entertainers,” she said.

Some of the acts The Cadillacs will be impersonating are George Jones, Tammy Wynette, the Oak Ridge Boys and J.D. Summer – the world’s lowest bass singer.

Advanced tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for ages 10-18 and free for children younger than 10. Tickets will be sold at the door for $15 for adults, $10 for ages 10-18 and free for children younger 10. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Counts Brothers Music, Odem and Odem Attorneys at Law, Laura’s Studio of Performing Arts, One Place of the Shoals, TVA Community Credit Union and online at www.oneplaceoftheshoals.org.
