RPD charges one with domestic violence, strangulation

One man is in custody following an alleged assault last week.

Nov. 1 officers from the Russellville Police Department received multiple phone calls reporting an ongoing alleged assault at an apartment complex in Russellville, according to Sgt. Jake Tompkins. Officers immediately started breaking people up when they arrived on the scene, about 5 p.m.

Tompkins said officers then started an investigation and found obvious signs of an altercation when they separated a woman from the group and discovered strangulation marks on her person. A witness statement also corroborated this fact.

“It was through the investigation that we discovered she had been assaulted by Marvin Hill,” Tompkins said.

Hill, a 37-year-old male, had allegedly been in a relationship with the female victim for about two months when the incident occurred.

“We are unaware of what initially started the fight, but it was something the male suspect supposedly did,” Tompkins said.

Hill was charged with domestic violence strangulation, domestic violence harassment and interference with a domestic violence emergency call.

“Through our investigation, we found out that the female had tried to make a 911 call, and (Hill) smashed the phone,” Tompkins said.
