Business workshop welcomes Franklin participants

Over the past several years, technology has advanced in leaps and bounds, and so has society’s dependence on it. That dependence has made its way into the field of business, making it crucial for businesses to have strong online and social media presences. That’s exactly what Sheree Martin, lawyer and former professor, is going to be talking about in an upcoming workshop.

The workshop, titled Content & Social Media Marketing for Professionals and Business Service Providers, is open to anyone who would like to come, but it will be geared more toward lawyers, accountants, insurance agents and similar professionals, Martin explained. Registration fee is $65 plus Eventbrite ticketing fee. For lawyers, attending the workshop can earn them CLE credit, and their registration fee would be $99 plus Eventbrite ticketing fee.

The workshop, subtitled A Strategic Look at How to (Ethically) Market Your Practice Without Breaking the Bank, will be held at Studio 220 in Florence Oct. 19 from 1-4:30 p.m.

“I need people to understand that this is separate from my law practice,” Martin said. “This is not me giving legal advice.”

The event will be offered through Martin’s company Start Learn Co., which she formed at the beginning of September. The business is a side project for Martin, while her main focus is on her law practice. The purpose of Start Learn Co. is to help businesses and creative types learn about things like marketing through in-person workshops and online workshops and materials that Martin said she is still in the process of creating.

“I plan on conducting a workshop in Russellville hopefully in mid-November, but I welcome all Franklin County parties that are interested to come to the workshop in Florence,” she said.

The Florence workshop will focus on content and social media marketing for businesses. Martin said the Russellville workshop will be a similar topic but geared toward a different audience.

“I’m thinking of focusing more on retailers or maybe writers,” she said.

In the meantime, she encouraged people to go to the website startlearnnow.com and look at the materials provided. Martin said the online courses will contain mixed media: videos, Power Point presentations, articles, audio and plenty of examples for people to follow for a one-time subscription price.

“It’s important that people and businesses understand how to navigate this new technology-focused world and use it to their benefit,” Martin said.
