Loyal Gerome Key

Loyal Gerome Key, 71, passed away July 27 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born in Winston County. He was under appointment with different fields for 38 years with the Church of God of Prophecy. He served as pastor at the Red Bay Church of God of Prophecy. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam conflict.

Services were July 30 at 3 p.m. at Carbon Hill Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Steve Puckett and Bro. Ronald Richardson officiating. Burial was in Pocahontas Cemetery, Carbon Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Key of Vina; three children, Kathy Byrd, Kevin Ray Key and Amy Rhodes, all of Red Bay; four grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Karli and Kendon; one sister, Olene Rubley of Arley; one brother, Harold Key of Arley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Key; his mother, Katie Alexander; daughter, Regina Key; granddaughter, Jessica Key; three brothers, Herschel, Paul and O’Neal Key; two sisters, Eurie Bates and Doris Jackson; and a son-in-law, Kevin Rhodes.

Visitation was July 29, 5-8 p.m., at Red Bay Church of God of Prophecy and Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Carbon Hill Church of God of Prophecy.
