Smokin’ Guns shoot well at state

By Brannon King for the FCT

Members of the Cedar Hill trapshooting team recently competed in the state shoot in Mathews, near Montgomery, and came away with good results.

In AIM competition, the Sub-Juniors group consisting of Rylee Rogers, Jacob Lynch, Conlee Powers, Jackson Mitchell and Kolton Robinson placed second.

Davis Lindsey fared well in Pre-Sub individuals by taking second place. Meanwhile, Trey McWilliams took fourth place in both Doubles and Handicap.

Kolton took first place in Handicap and Doubles while finishing second place in Singles. He was the top Sub-Junior in the ATA competition. He took the top spot in HOA Sub-Juniors and HAA Sub-Juniors while finishing High Overall Handicap in the state, and he received the state hall of fame trophy for his shooting skills.

“They shot great, and I was proud of them,” Coach Wade Willingham said of his group. “Three of them were brand new and had never been to a competition before, so I know they were a little nervous, but overall, they did well.”
