The Vina Red Devils shut out the Meek Tigers 10-0 last week in preparation for the playoffs, which begin this week.

Vina pounded out seven hits and took advantage of four Meek errors while getting away with three errors of their own in the field.

Austin Childers and Tyler Renfrow led the way at the plate for the Red Devils. Childers went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Renfrow scored three runs and had an RBI as well.

James Barnes and Justin Gravitt combined to strike out 14 Meek batters while allowing only three hits.

Vina scored two runs in the first inning on a two-RBI double by Childers scoring Gravitt and Renfrow and picked up another run in the bottom of the third inning when Austin Harper scored on a wild pitch.

Vina scored three in the fourth inning. Childers doubled in Jacob Lewis and Gravitt before Renfrow scored on a passed ball to make the score 6-0. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Renfrow singled in Barnes. Afterward, Gravitt scored on a bases-loaded walk, and Renfrow scored on a wild pitch, to give Vina a 9-0 lead.

Vina added their final run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Barnes single scoring Blake Hardin.

The Vina Red Devils will travel to Spring Garden this week for the first round of the 1A baseball playoffs. The Red Devils will be making their first playoff appearance since 2011.
