Probation revoked for Common

Following his arrest in February for attempted murder, JJ Common will remain behind bars after a probation revocation hearing Friday.

According to the Franklin County District Attorney’s office, Common was on probation following previous convictions for distribution of a controlled substance. Common, 33, had served three years and one day of a 20-year sentence before being released on probation, but in February he was arrested for allegedly shooting into an occupied dwelling on McCarley Road in Phil Campbell. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Common after he was positively identified from security footage. He was also charged with trafficking cocaine, synthetic marijuana hydrocodone as well as possession of marijuana first degree and possession of drug paraphernalia first degree.

Following a lengthy hearing, Common’s probation was revoked. He has been returned to the Lauderdale County Jail, being housed there for the Franklin County Jail.

According to the DA’s office, Common’s charges could be adopted by the federal court for prosecution at the federal level. If not, Common’s case will come before an upcoming grand jury in Franklin County.
