Archie Rulfs Brown
Archie Rulfs Brown, age 87, Russellville, passed away April 3 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
The visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. April 6 at Spry Memorial Chapel, with a memorial service and internment to follow in the Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas.
Archie was born to Jake Brown and Vena (Holloway) Brown July 2, 1929, in San Augustine, Texas. He lived in Blackjack, Texas, for his younger years before moving to Colbert County, where he worked and retired from Reynolds Metal Company. He later moved to Franklin County, filling his final years outdoors with the roosters, animals and things that he loved.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Archie E. Brown Sr., and Ervin A. Brown Sr., of Tuscumbia, Freeman Kyle Brown of Vancouver, Wash,, Aaron Brown of Russellville and Brandon Brown of Killen; sister Irven (Brown) Shaw of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers, Harley Brown of Longview, Texas, Paul Brown of Garrison, Texas, Wayne Brown of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Nolan Brown of Nacogdoches, Texas. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, whom he loved and cared for even in the final moments of his extraordinary life.
He is preceded in death by father Jake Brown; mother Vena Brown; brothers Norris, Morris, Alfred, Leonard and Clearance Brown; and sisters, Mattie Doyen and Ruth Brown.
Archie Brown can be remembered for many things over his 87 years with us. His love of family, friends and community were his greatest concerns.
Without God, love, family and true friends, the joy of a real and full life cannot be known.
