Helen C. Underwood
Helen Colleen Underwood, 83, of Spruce Pine, passed away March 26 at her residence.
Born in Tennessee, Mrs. Underwood had lived in Franklin County most of her life and was a member of Isbell Church of Christ of Russellville.
Visitation for Mrs. Underwood will be March 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Services will be March 28 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with George Hutto officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memory Gardens, Russellville.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Horton, Glenn Graham, Shannon Uptain, Byron Duncan, Jake Uptain and Joseph Medina.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by her daughters: Judy Horton and husband Raymond and Sandy James and husband Kenneth. Her siblings include brothers Martin Uptain and LeeRoy Uptain Jr. and sister Sharon Copeland. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tommy and Mandy Horton, Tim and Kim Horton, Brandon and Tonya James, Brad James and Wes and Brooke Bishop. Great-grands include T.J., Ethan, Colin, Lauren and Leah Horton; Olivia, Eli and Anna Hood; Arlye, Paislee, Chloe and Charleigh James; and Taitum and Teagan Bishop. A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death in 2016 by her beloved husband, Thomas L. Underwood, and son, Dwight Underwood. Her parents, Lee Roy and Lillian Clement Uptain, two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
