Brenda Gay Tharp

Brenda Gay Tharp, 66, passed away March 3 at Shearer Richardson Memorial Nursing Home in Okolona, Miss. She was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to Hubert and Berniece Hubbard Tharp. Brenda loved to spend time with her family and friends, particularly the children as they grew up. She had a beautiful singing voice, and music filled her heart with joy. She was an avid collector of many things. Her loving presence will always be missed. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Services will be March 7 at 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Eulon Pruitt and Bro. David Webb officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery.

Survivors include her sister, Sharon Pounders and husband Dexter of Golden; niece, Anna Goldsby and husband Aaron of Maryland; nephew, Brian Pounders of Golden; two great-nephews, Nikolas Brian Pounders and Brenley Goldsby; and one great-niece, Amberlee Goldsby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Judy Cole; and her guardians, Arlie and Sophie Weatherford.

Pallbearers will be Brian Pounders, Aaron Goldsby, Ed Hammock, John Hammock, Chris Hubbard and Johnny Beam.

Visitation will be March 6 from 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
