RMS invites all to Disney Dazzle show

Russellville Middle School sixth grade performing arts students are ready to dazzle with their first big performance since the formal class was established.
Disney Dazzle will hit the stage Thursday night, with the students being led by choral directors Emily Rush and Sarah Jane Davis. The brand new class has allowed RMS sixth graders an outlet to embrace their musical arts passions like never before.
Chalea Clemmons, who will solo in “Dig a Little Deeper” from “The Princess and the Frog,” said she thinks the audience will enjoy the dancing in the showchoir-style performance. “It’s just jazzy,” she said.
All the pieces performed will be from favorite Disney movies, featuring songs from “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Big Hero 6,” among others.
Sprinkled throughout Disney Dazzle, Rush said, will also be sneak peeks from the remainder of the fine arts season, including scenes from the high school spring musical “Into the Woods” and the 7th/8th grades’ “Honk!”
Rush said the sixth grade students, about 40 of them, have worked hard to perfect each song and dance number for Disney Dazzle. “It’s fun music,” she said. “Little kids will like it, but their parents will enjoy it too.” She encouraged people to come out and see it. “These sixth graders really need the support and encouragement so they’ll stick with it.”
Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. show, to be held in the RCS auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $5.
