The Franklin County Board of Education hosted some young guests at the board’s January meeting, and board members received a little appreciation for the work they do.

After the opening approvals and reports, the Tharptown Elementary School Ambassadors came forward to give their thanks to the board members in honor of Alabama’s 24th Annual School Board Member Recognition Month. The Ambassadors presented a “Key to Success” to Superintendent Greg Hamilton and the board and gave flashlight key chains and highlighters to each member, to symbolize the board’s hard work in making the student’s futures “bright.”

The personnel list was then reviewed. The motion failed for the transfer of Jason Harris from Special Education Aide at Vina High School to Teacher’s Aide at Vina High School. The motion also failed for the employment of Johnny Cleveland as Administrative Assistant/Federal Programs Assistant.
