Friends June Myrick and George Perkins describe his shows as “good music, wholesome atmosphere and a lot of fun.” Former classmate Rodney Smith likes to come and support his shows because “you can’t get any better entertainment.” The man is Kerry Gilbert, who, along with his band the KGB, just keeps on Rockin’ at the Roxy as their monthly performance at the historic Russellville theater enters another year.

The band’s first 2017 show at the Roxy was held Saturday at 7 p.m. with special guests Crossing Dixie, an all-girls country band started in May 2014.

While the night was focused on the KGB and Crossing Dixie’s performances, there were a few special highlights throughout the show. Before Crossing Dixie took the stage to start the concert, Gilbert took time to thank the show’s sponsors and the audience for coming out and gave free tickets to four audience members for the upcoming Valentine’s Day show.

Midway into the KGB’s performance, children in the audience were invited to come up on stage and play instruments to help the band (and frequent KGB collaborator Steve Bigbee) in performing “Old Man Tucker.” Singer Dale Davis also performed with the band later on in the show.

The next Rockin’ at the Roxy will be held Feb. 11.
