Library offers new computers

Those who often visit the Russellville Public Library might have noticed changes inside the library. In addition to the aesthetic changes, the library will also be receiving new computers.

For those who frequent the library, they know the struggle of having to wait for one of the four computers at the library to become available. Through a grant given by the Franklin County Community Development Commission, the library will be able to purchase four new computers.

The computers are often used throughout the summer since the library offers the summer reading program. Children come in each day to use the tools provided to them by the library. According to library director Ashley Cummins, the library can have between 5-20 people a day come to use the computers. When the library opens at 10 a.m., it often has people lined up outside waiting to come in and use the computers.

This grant was brought to Cummins’ attention by Mayor David Grissom. A young Boy Scout approached the mayor and asked if it would be possible for the library to get new computers. He then mentioned the availability of this grant and encouraged the library to apply for it. The library did receive it and has now purchased the new computers.

Now maybe more people will get the opportunity to expand their knowledge and use the free tools given to them by this city.
