“Kerry Don Gilbert, having been deemed of meritorious character, is hereby commissioned an Honorary Colonel in the Militia of the State of Alabama.”

So proclaims an official recognition from Gov. Robert Bentley for local star Gilbert. The proclamation was presented to him at the KGB’s monthly show at the Historic Roxy Theatre.

The document continues, “He is, therefore, carefully and diligently to discharge the duties of the office to which he is appointed by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging. And I do strictly charge and require all Officers and Soldiers under his command to be obedient to his orders ad directions, from time to time, as he shall receive from me, or the future Governor of the State of Alabama, or of the General or other Superior Officers set over him, according to the laws for the regulation and government of the Alabama State Militia.”
