DaVita teammates give back to community

DaVita Kidney Care, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. and a leading provider of kidney care services, announced a $5,000 contribution to the Huntsville Breast Cancer Patient Foundation.

On Sept. 30, teammates from five DaVita Kidney Care dialysis centers presented a check to the Huntsville Breast Cancer Patient Foundation as part of the “DaVita Way of Giving,” the company’s locally focused charitable giving initiative that helps nonprofit organizations throughout the United States grow and thrive.

The Huntsville Breast Cancer Patient Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists patients who are experiencing financial hardship, or facing difficulties, during their time in treatment. Funds are used to assist patients with their mortgage, utility bills, and car payments to name a few.

DaVita Kidney Care teammates from Russellville, Florence, Sheffield, Muscle Shoals and Renaissance chose to donate to the Huntsville Breast Cancer Patient Foundation because a current teammate, Whittney Jones, is going through her own struggle with breast cancer.

“Having the money donated in my honor makes me feel grateful, blessed and loved by all my teammates,” said Whittney Jones, a DaVita Kidney Care patient care technician.

Sandra Cross of the Breast Cancer Patient Foundation said the DaVita Kidney Care contribution will go a long way to support its mission.

“This is the largest one-time donation that the foundation has received since being founded. This money will help out a lot of women in need,” Cross said.

DaVita Kidney Care is committed to improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, is dedicated to spreading ripples of citizen leadership through its Trilogy of Care – caring for its patients, caring for each other and caring for the world.
