Bank Independent hosting Food Share drive

Bank Independent has announced its first annual Food Share drive to benefit local families in need.

Throughout the month of May, all 27 Bank Independent locations will accept donations of non-perishable food items to be delivered to local charitable organizations for distribution.

Items donated in the Russellville and Red Bay offices will be distributed by the Department of Human Resources of Franklin County.

“Our friends in Franklin County have always been very generous and willing to help their neighbors, whatever the need,” said Larry Archer, Bank Independent Area President in Franklin and Lawrence Counties.

“We are honored to facilitate these donations to help the DHR assist families in need, especially when so many children will be served by their program this summer.”

The Share drives are part of Bank Independent’s Helping Hands program, which also includes employee volunteer efforts, donations and sponsorships.

Helping Hands was inspired by employee requests for organized volunteer opportunities after the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. Since then, Bank Independent employees have donated over 2,000 hours in paid volunteer time to community efforts.

Bank Independent is accepting donations of non-perishable food items including bottled water, canned goods, crackers, cereal, boxed foods, snack items, peanut butter, jelly, ramen noodles, cooking oil and sugar.

In addition to the Department of Human Resources of Franklin County, partner organizations include Limestone County Churches Involved, Inc., Committee on Church Cooperation in Morgan County, Limestone County Churches Involved, Inc., Department of Human Resources of Lawrence County, Neighborhood Christian Center in Decatur and Sidney’s Safe! Foundation in the Shoals area.
