Phil Campbell hosts Haleyville in last regular reason game

Phil Campbell 49, Haleyville 45

The Phil Campbell Bobcats used a strong first half to build a lead big enough to hang on for a win over the Haleyville Lions in the final regular season game of the year.

Phil Campbell outscored Haleyville 16-11 in the first quarter and 14-12 in the second quarter to take a 30-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

After a stalemate in the third quarter, the Lions tied the game in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats retook the lead after a steal and layup by junior Vickie McAlister that helped seal the win.

Taylor Pace scored 25 points and led the Bobcats. Others scoring for Phil Campbell were Elizabeth Benford (9), Madion Hardy (7), Vickie McAlister (3), Kaylie Ayers (3), and Tori Pace (2).

Varsity Boys

Haleyville 57, Phil Campbell 51

The Haleyville Lions jumped out to a commanding 34-20 first half lead over the Phil Campbell Bobcats. The Bobcats, however, came clawing back in the second half.

Phil Campbell outscored Haleyville 10-8 in the third quarter to cut the Lions lead to 12. The Bobcats trimmed the Lions lead even further in the fourth quarter outscoring Haleyville 21-15 but it was too little too late to get the win.

Phil Campbell had two players in double figures. Junior Bailey Motes scored 14 points. Senior Colton Vickery scored 12 points. Other Bobcats scoring were Nathan Duncan (9), Skyler Tackett (5), Ryan Saint (3), and Tommy Reed (2).
