The Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats defeated the Shoals Christian Flame by a score of 57-23 Friday night at Northwest-Shoals Community College.

Phil Campbell outscored Shoals Christian 19-0 in the first quarter and led at the half, 31-10.

Taylor Pace of Phil Campbell almost single-handedly outscored the Flame with her game-high 20 points.

The young Shoals Christian team has only one tenth grader, while the rest of the roster is made up of players between grades 7-9.

Madison Hardy of Phil Campbell scored 16 points in the win. She was followed by Victoria McAlister (8), Tori Pace (5), Leah Gunderman (4), Elizabeth Benford (2) and Kelsey Bullock (2).

Shoals Christian was led by Madison Gillis with 9 points. She was followed by Callie McLaughlin (6), Lee Taylor Bishop (4), Camree Hickman (3) and Madison Hughes (1).

After the win, Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle felt his team could have played even better by focusing on themselves and not the opponent.

“It doesn’t matter who you play, you have to go out and play your game,” Riddle said.

“We did some good things but for us to do anything in the area, we are going to have to play better.”
