Lady Tigers beat Tremont 58-40

Thirteen Red Bay Lady Tigers all contributed points in their 58-40 win over Tremont on Jan. 7.

With the win, Red Bay ups their season record to 15-2.

Kasey Sparks tossed in two baskets and Allie Kennedy added a three pointer in the opening minutes to give Red Bay a 7-0 lead.

Elizabeth Wooten tacked on a three pointer from the left side to round out Red Bay’s lead by a score of 10-0.

Darby Madden added a two pointer and Red Bay’s Hope Cook ended the first quarter with back-to-back baskets to move Red Bay out front by a score of 17-4.

Red Bay’s defense held the Lady Eagles to only two points in the first three minutes of the second quarter while the offense added eight points for a 25-6 lead.

By halftime, Red Bay led Tremont by a score of 38-10.

Hannah McKinney and Danielle Hastings opened the third quarter scoring for Red Bay. McKinney sunk a three pointer from the side and Hastings added a basket to extend the Lady Tigers’ lead to 43-16.

Red Bay’s Holly Hardin hit both free-throws for Red Bay to end the third with a 45-17 advantage for the Lady Tigers.

Katie Burks added a three pointer for Red Bay to start the fourth quarter.

Although Red Bay was outscored by 10 points in the second half, their 28-point lead from the first half was enough to hold off Tremont’s second half scoring drive.

Kasey Sparks led Red Bay with 11 points. Elizabeth Wooten scored eight, and Allie Kennedy and Hannah McKinney added six each.

Hope Cook tossed in five, Morgan Pierce added four, Danielle Hastings and Holly Hardin scored four each, Katie Burks made three, Jade Faulkner, Carlee Berry and Darby Madden scored two each, and Brooklyn Bolton added one point.

Red Bay will compete next in the Franklin County Tournament January 14-18.
