Satellite office moving to new building

RED BAY – Franklin County Probate Judge Barry Moore said the county’s probate and revenue commission satellite office in Red Bay would soon be moving to a new location.

Moore said the Franklin County Commission voted at their Oct. 21 meeting to purchase a building on 4th Street in Red Bay and would move the satellite offices into the new building this month.

Moore said the current office, located on 1st Street, would be closed on Nov. 15 and Nov. 18 in order to prepare for the move.

Moore said the new office on 4th Street would open on Nov. 19.

“We feel like this is a good move for our satellite office because the current building is older and there are some maintenance issues that need to be addressed, so a newer building would really be better for the long-term,” Moore said.

“Plus, the current building is on one of the side streets. The building we purchased is the former office for Don Holcomb’s CPA business and is located right on the main street so we think the location will also be better for our citizens on the west end of the county who need to take advantages of these services.”

The probate and revenue commission satellite office in Red Bay offers several services including property tax, car tags, business license, hunting license, fishing license and BCDA permits.

Moore said the purpose of the office was to keep residents on the west end of the county from making a special trip to Russellville just to conduct business.

“This office is something that we have for the convenience of our citizens,” Moore said.

“We are glad that we have the opportunity to make the office even better than it has been so that we can better serve the people.”
