Mildred Barnett Overton, 85, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Florence.

She was a native of Alabama and was an inspector at General Motors for 25 years. She was a member of Hodges Convention Baptist Church.

Services were Friday, April 20, 2012, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Loyd Ray Griffus and Bro. Kent Walker officiating. Burial was in Overton Cemetery, Hodges.

Survivors are her husband of 67 years, Ted D. Overton, Hodges; one daughter, Gail McGregor, Florence; caregiver and special friend, H.L. Pittman; two grandchildren,  Jim McGregor and wife, LaShonda, and Chris McGregor and wife, Margaret Ann, all of Birmingham,  and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlyn, J.T., Smith and Emma McGregor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Barnett and Sarah Strickland Barnett and a son, Dwight B. Overton.

Pallbearers were friends and family.
