Arrest made in drug case

A Franklin County man was arrested last Thursday on drug charges, officials said.
Clarence Edward “Killer” Jones, III, 38, 1706 Franklin 79, Phil Campbell, was arrested for attempting to traffic cocaine, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, attempting to elude and resisting arrest, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.
According to Oliver, officers with the Franklin County Drug Unit were working on a drug investigation when they attempted to stop Jones in the Polk Street area in Russellville.
Oliver said Jones attempted to run from officers at that point but was apprehended a short time later.
Jones remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail pending a hearing for a Community Corrections violation in a separate case.
