County storeowner robbed at gunpoint

Police are looking for the man that entered a county convenience store on Monday and robbed the storeowner at gunpoint.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, a male dressed in black clothing and wearing a black ski mask entered A&A County Line Quick Stop on County Line Road at about 6:20 p.m. Monday.

Oliver said the man pointed a gun at store owner Alex McClusky and told him to put all the money from the register in the bag.

After McClusky put the money in the bag, the man fled the scene on foot. Oliver said McClusky pursued him for a short distance after firing three rounds at the man but eventually lost sight of him.

“After we responded to the scene, we searched the area with the assistance of the Russellville Police Department’s K-9 Unit but we weren’t able to track down the suspect,” Oliver said. “He was last seen traveling south down County Line Road when he disappeared into a field.”

Oliver said both the Colbert and Lawrence County Sheriff’s departments responded to the scene as well.

The man in question is described as weighing 150 to 160 pounds with a height of 5’ 6” to 5’8.” He was last seen wearing black clothing and a black ski mask. Oliver said because of the mask, they are not positive if the suspect was black or white.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 256-332-8820.
