Red Bay’s Sharp picked as All-Star

RED BAY — Red Bay’s Hannah Sharp will be representing the Lady Tigers in the15th annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week after earning a roster spot on the North basketball team.

Sharp had a breakout season during her junior year, leading the Lady Tigers in most statistical categories.

“It feels good [to be selected],” Sharp said. “I’ve played a lot of summer ball, but I’ve never been on anything like this.”

Sharp averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists to help guide Red Bay to the Northwest Regional Tournament finals. She also hit 41 3-pointers and shot 77 percent from the free throw line.

“She had her best season,” said Red Bay coach Donnie Roberts. “She is hard to defend and does a good job driving to the basket.”

With the selection Sharp becomes the fifth girls player from Red Bay chosen to participate in the All-Star event. She joins Laura Wallace, Catherine Hellums, Leah Roberts and Morgan Duncan on the list.

The game will be played at 6 p.m. July 13 at Alabama State University’s Acadome in Montgomery.
