Kermit Gillie Parrish, 80, of Red Bay passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at UAB, Birmingham, Ala. He was born November 30, 1930 in Franklin County, Ala. to Dewey and Betty Nix Parrish. He was a minister for 40 years and a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force for 15 years and served during the Korean War.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Steve Lindsay and Bro. David Corum officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Red Bay, Ala.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ernestine Parrish, of Red Bay, Ala.; two daughters, Sandra Pratt and Beth Pharr, both of Red Bay, Ala.; one son, David Parrish and wife, Rita, of Vina, Ala.; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Parrish; his parents; and two brothers, Wayne Parrish and Marvin Franklin “M.F.” Parrish.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Blunt and grandsons, Jonathan Pharr, Chase Pharr, Joshua Parrish, Jason Mitchell and Zachary Parrish.
