Trying to take the Times viral
The era of pencil and paper has long since flown out the window as more and more people utilize the fast advancing technology world.
Today lots of newspapers, such as ours, are linking up and plugging into multiple avenues and creating new ways to transfer information to folks throughout the county and beyond.
Our new, redesigned webpage has been up and running since April of this year — and while browsing our capabilities, it seems I find something new every day.
Recently we have found a way to upload all of the photos we take during our story adventures, place them into an album/gallery, and spread them across the bottom of the front page on our website.
I found that to be very useful, especially since we take a wide range of pictures at certain events we attend.
I think the coolest task we are able to perform now on our webpage that we were unable to do before is posting or linking video.
Now we have the ability to upload and post videos on the front page near the bottom to show stories in motion.
Since our video ability has become available, I have come up with the idea of linking three segments a couple of friends and I performed while in college to our website from You Tube.
So now to view them all I have to do is go to the Franklin County Times Web site, go to the bottom where it says video and click on it. Then I click on the segment and it will take me to Youtube.com to view my video.
I’m now in the process of trying to locate a video my friends shot while playing golf cart football which is hilarious and posting it, but I have yet to retrieve it.
Some videos are hilarious and others can be real mysterious or sentimental, whatever it may be I would like a copy of it.
So I want to send out an invitation to all the avid You Tube users in Franklin County to send me videos you have uploaded and I will try to either post or link them on our website, kind of like a “Video of the Day” sort of thing.
Of course, I will view them before linking them up because we are not in favor of tasteless acts, but I do approve of the weird, wacky, dare devilish and insane videos that seem to be posted on You Tube every day.
I’d like to get your face on our Web site because who knows — you may even become an Internet sensation one day.
Those guys in Arizona who have gotten popular by making some unbelievable basketball shots have really made a name for themselves by linking up their video and we hope to help you do the same.
There, I’ve said my peace. Until next time, Later Dayz…
